We view the practice of architecture as a service and an art and architecture itself as that which both accommodates and inspires. The design process involves collaboration and interpretation, and each design evolves in its own way in response to site, context, program and client. With the important recognition that environment has a profound effect on life, projects are tailored through landscape, building, and interior to fully realize the potential of each situation. Our work is characterized not only by appearance but consistent quality across a range of conditions. We listen carefully to our clients and work with passion to meet and exceed their goals.

Christopher Arelt, AIA, LEED AP, principal and owner, received his Master's in Architecture from Yale University in 1993, Master's in Business Administration from Duke University in 1987 and Bachelor's Degree, Magna Cum Laude, also from Duke, in 1985.

An expanded design team provides specialized attention for a wide range of related disciplines: audiovisual, illumination, geotechnical, structural, and mechanical.

We have longstanding relationships with custom builders, master craftsmen and skilled tradespeople, experts who see the value of good design and are passionate in what they do.

L E E D:
Sustainable design is, well, here to stay. We are proud to announce that Christopher Arelt has earned distinction as a LEED-certified designer by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Our approach to sustainable design is rooted in the essential nature of the site itself, the orientation of buildings to topography/sun, minimizing construction waste, and making appropriate choices for building systems and the material palette. We integrate innovative methods of dealing with passive cooling, natural ventilation, managing daylight, energy use, recycled and repurposed materials, life cycle cost analyses and green roof technology.
