Greystone is a new, single-family residence located on a sloping, wooded lot in the Connecticut River valley. The first half of the building, a long unfolding “Z” in plan, is derived entirely from the topography, orientation to daylight, privacy/relationship to street, and zoning/wetlands restrictions.

Bold, modern forms will be softened and brought into contextuality through cladding materials like slate, native stone, and weathered wood.

The home will run on energy from geothermal wells, and throughout will benefit from the latest energy-efficient products and technologies.
